Ｉ. What is UNESCO? (ユネスコって何？）
UNESCO is an acronym of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. ユネスコは 国際連合教育科学文化機関です
In 1945, after a disastorous end of Wold
War II, leaders of 44 countries met in London in
order to talk about the world peace in the
future, and they established UNESCO.
In 1947, a group of people who admired
UNESCO spirit organized an association in
Sendai, Japan. It was the first one in the
world for ordinary citizens to support the
purpose and function of UNESCO.
Nowadays there are more than 5,000 UNESCO
associations or clubs throughout the world.
It is a network to promote global peace and
friendship.
悲惨な第二次世界大戦が終わった後、４４カ国の代表者がロンドンに集まり, 将来の世界平和について相談し、ユネスコを設立しました。
その後、１９４７年日本の仙台市でユネスコ精神に賛同する人たちが集まって協会を作りました。ユネスコの目的や仕事を支援する民間団体としては世界初めてのものです。
今では世界中に約５,０００の協会やクラブがあり,
国際平和と友情を進める大きな組織となっています。
